Islamic University of Indonesia carved out more brilliant achievements in the arena of international art and dance competition. This time a team of students who are members of the International Program Dance Club (IPDC) UII won the Grand Prix Award at the International Art Festivals and Contests “Magic Bridge of Vienna and Prague” held in two cities, Vienna of Austria and Prague Republic of Chekoslovakia at 30 October – November 4, 2017. This competition was followed by hundreds of dancers and musicians from more than 30 countries around the world. In addition to the Grand Prix award, IPDC also became the winner of Laureate Diploma for the adult category.
IPDC team consists of 17 dancers and musicians performed Ratoeh Jaroe dance and Ramphak Aceh which is a typical dance of Nangroe Aceh Darusalam. “The IPDC Team’s performance captured the attention of judges and audiences and participants from other countries so, we deserve the highest honors. This IPDC achievement is repeating the success in the arena of folk dance competition in 2016 in Saint Petersburg Russia which succeeded to achieve 6 awards at once “, said Wiryono Raharjo, PhD as the leader of the group.
The existence of IPDC team during the race in Vienna and Prague received support from the Embassy of Austria and the Czech Republic and the entire community there including the Indonesian Student Association (PPI). The IPDC team was also invited to participate on the Indonesian Day with the title “A Glimpse of Wonderful Indonesia” organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the Royal Theater of Prague City on 4 November 2017.
