Ki Hadjar Dewantara once mentioned that everyone is a teacher and every home is a school. The quote has thought us that learning process happens everywhere and it is essential that every related party to work hand in hand ensuring the effectiveness of the learning process. Weak collaboration between parents and education institution can be one of the factors affecting the learning process.
International Program, UII believes that in nurturing innovative global leaders, parents and IP UII should work hand in hand. Last Saturday, 2 December 2017, IP UII invited parents and students to KH. Mas Mansyur building to attend parents meeting 2017. This meeting is intended to share the details of curricular and co-curricular activities conducted in IP UII to all of the students as well as parents to build an understanding of the learning process implemented in IP UII.
The meeting was divided into two sessions. The first session was led by Ir. Wiryono Raharjo, M.Arch, P.hD as the director of IP UII, focused on the introduction to IP UII, vision and mission of IP UII, achievements and character building program. Meanwhile, the second session focused on academic issues for each department. To ensure that the parents and students can focus on the discussion based on their major, the second session was led by the head of departments in three different venues. To assist the parents in finding more in-depth information about our international collaborations, the International Office prepared a booth to provide details of each collaboration.
Following the sessions, parents delivered some questions and built a fruitful discussion with the staffs and lecturers. The parents provided positive comments and mentioned that they are excited to participate in this meeting since it allowed them to gain more information about their children’s learning process. It is expected that through parents meeting, IP UII is able to establish better communication with parents and enhance collaboration to improve the quality of learning process for students of 2017.
